Seminar in Innsbruck: Statistics for Political Sciences IV
In this lecture (16.November 2006) we experiment more detailed with statistical tests in SPSS.
Every scale level has its own test methods, e.g. for differential testing:
nominal scale -> chi square test
ordinal scale -> Man-whitney U-test, Kruskal-Wallis test
metric scale -> Variance Analysis (for a test on the normal distribution: Kolmogorov-Smirnov-test)
The procedure in statistical testing is like described earlier: formulation of null and alternative hypothesis, definition of probability and significance level, actual test, interpretation of results.
